#Beautiful: 🎨 🎨 🎨 🎨 🎨 🎨 6/10
It’s a bit like graffiti and street art, but on houses in a village and drawn on by a 90-year-old resident.
This grandma paints flowers onto the houses in her hometown of Louka in the Czech Republic, aiming to bring a bit of beauty and local design onto the walls of the homes in her neighbourhood.
90-year-old Anežka (Agnes) Kašpárková was a former agricultural worker, but picked up on painting after seeing another woman in her village paint similar floral patterns on the town walls.
Armed with solely a paintbrush and some blue paint, the grandma paints intricate designs, following the patterns of traditional Moravian (southern Czech) work. The dark blue colour contrasts beautifully with the white walls of the houses in the town, and are slowly becoming a local highlight to any visitor to the region. However, Agnes insists she paints solely for the joy it brings her. “I am an artist. I just enjoy it and I want to help.”
Proving that age is no factor in producing charming and cultural art work, take a scroll through images of Agnes at work down below. It may just inspire you to turn your own house into a canvas.
