This Artist Turns Avocado Pits Into Magical Tiny Creatures

Who knew what beauty was hiding inside those avocados?

As if we needed another reason to love avocado.

Jan Campbell creates the most amazing magical forest creatures using solely avocado pits. That’s right – that big round brown thing you normally cut around and throw in the rubbish.

I mean, did you ever think a delicate Celtic companion could be hiding away in there?

It all began when Jan was preparing an avocado for lunch one day (as we all do), when she was suddenly struck by the beauty of the hard, round pit on the inside, and decided to carve away.

Inspired by Celtic folklore, the Irish artisan created everything from forest spirits over to ancient goddesses, along with a handful of wild mushrooms here and there. Used as home decor or worn as pendants, the creatures are designed to provide a warm sense of companionship and comfort. And knowing they were born out of avocado pits, certainly also ups their coolness level.

They’re playful and they’re enchanting, and are a beautiful example of repurpose and nature. Between peaceful expressions and poses and striking detailing, we have a feeling you’ll never look at your avocados the same way again.

Take a scroll through some of Jan’s creations below, they’re a magical excuse to have avocado toast for lunch today.
