You may have seen tree houses before, but you’ve probably never seen volcanic tree houses before.
That’s right – a collection of luxury tree houses has recently opened in Rwanda, and they sit in the midst of an African volcano.
How’s that for a lit vacation experience?
As Rwanda becomes an increasingly hotter tourist magnet, many hotels and lodges are opening around the region, promising unique adventure and wildlife activities to all who visit. Aiming to blend both luxury and spirit of travel, the newly opened Bisate Lodge sits at the pulse of bubbling habitat and hospitality.
Situated next to Volcanoes National Park, the lodge is comprised of six luxurious forest villas, each lending unique views of the Karisimbi, Bisoke, and Mikeno volcanoes. Of course, the villas themselves also sit inside an old eroded African volcano cone, and thereby lend both an eerie and special stay for guests at the lodge.
Indoors, the villas consist of a reception area, a large bedroom, a bathroom, a central fireplace for chilly nights, and a private deck for admiring those #Views. The local handmade decor and bright textiles pay homage to the native batik style, whilst volcanic stone is used inside the villa’s fireplaces for a very suave touch.
Grand Woodrow, COO of Wilderness Safaris states, “With only six luxurious forest villas, the real generosity of Bisate in the Rwandan context is the amount of private and exclusive space that surrounds the lodge, sheltering it in a rare natural landscape brimming with Albertine Rift biodiversity and beauty.”
The villas have been constructed with the outside surroundings in mind, using woven materials that blend into the nature all around. And indeed, the natural surroundings play a key role in the resort’s preservation mission. Dedicated to help protect the area’s famed gorillas and their home, guests are even encouraged to play a tree during their stay.
Furthermore, there are nature walks around the park, and encounters with furry natives such as gorillas, golden monkeys, buffalos, and elephants. (The latter are not that furry)
