It’s not always stunning sunsets and kisses and that’s totally a-okay (if not better)

If you’ve ever been in love, you’ll know that life suddenly becomes all roses and butterflies. The world seems better and brighter, the birds chirp to your tune, the sky bellows with pink heart-shaped clouds.

Yet it isn’t ALWAYS holding hands and stars in your eyes and kisses that taste like candy floss.

Beautifully named artist Amanda Oleander is depicting that side of relationships that may not traditionally fall under relationship goals but definitely needs to.

Oleander draws the intimate and often times far sweeter moments in which partners do mundane things like go grocery shopping, cook a meal together, lie in bed naked and ugly cry, or put ointment on each other’s ingrown nails.

Oleander states, “I’m enthralled by the way people behave behind closed doors. Intimate moments we never get to see. Those are moments that can’t really be documented because if they were, it would alter the way the person behaved. So I draw them.”

Colourful and somehow really heartwarming, it’s relationship goals in a far more real, far more raw manner. From gentle touches and subtle looks, it’s love in an honest, playful and no-frills kind of way. When you can ask your partner to toss you the toilet paper while he/she brushes their teeth at the sink, or when you trust them to pop a pimple that is looking awfully suspicious, or when you both lie on the kitchen floor in your underwear and discuss life – you know it’s real.

A reality bite in the sweetest of forms, check out more of Oleander’s work below, and give your partner (real or imaginary) a tight squeeze tonight.
