#BodyPositivity: 💜 💜 💜 💜 💜 💜 💜 💜 💜 9/10
I have them, and you probably have them too.
Now it’s time we start celebrating them.
A collage artist named Sara Shakeel is turning stretch marks into sparkling works of body art, by creating magical collages that embrace these perfectly natural streaks on the skin.
The #GlitterStretchMarks project began when Sara began photo-editing her own stretch marks, by filling them in with glitter or crystals. Her work quickly went viral, and soon the young artist was receiving requests from people around the world asking her to beautifully edit their stretch marks too.
It’s quite possibly one of the greatest positive hypes around stretch marks. And we are so here for it.
On her Instagram page, Sara writes, “I have never felt so powerful & liberated and so fucking proud of my stretch [sic] marks in my entire life!!! From where I come from & live, to be on the chubby side or to even talk about stretchmarks is not something one is proud of.”
Indeed, stretch marks are having somewhat of a moment. From coming up more commonly at body talks, over to celebrities proudly flaunting theirs, it was about time these babies got some lovin’.
Or in this case, glitter. <3
Promoting a positive message and true encouragement to women with any kind of stretch marks and cellulite, Sara writes, “Each picture heals a part of me & I hope it heals a part of you too.”
